Eva McIntyre

Eva's life has led her down many different and rich professional and social paths. Ordained in the Anglican Church for over 25 years, she has also worked (full time and part time) in local and national broadcasting (mainly within the BBC) and now writes freelance articles and book reviews. She spent six years working with Christian Aid, based in the UK but travelling in Latin America, where the integration of Christianity within an ancient pagan context spoke profoundly to her. While working as a Prison Chaplain, she developed a mutually supportive inter-faith team, where she was enriched by the wisdom of those of other spiritual paths. During this time, she also developed her understanding of mental health issues and undertook Prison Service training on this subject. Eva has, herself, experienced several years of psychotherapy which she acknowledges as having 'transformed her life and brought more wholeness than she thought possible'.

Her parish ministry has taken her to different parts of England and Wales. She would desribe her own spirituality as Celtic and interfaith; joyfully accepting the rich gifts of all traditions in her quest for spiritual wholeness. Celtic Spirituality engages with her profound love of creation and all creatures. She founded the ecumenical Celtic online community 'The Pilgrim Community of Bangor Monachorum' which existed from 2000 until 2009. Contemplation has been a huge and enriching part of her life for more than 25 years. In the last year, she has taken up Tai Chi through a desire for a form of bodily exercise with a spiritual dimension.

Networking with local professionals in counselling and complementary therapies, Eva has organised a number of 'Bring Me Sunshine' events, aimed at helping people to find ways of coping with the pressures of stress, depression and anxiety. She would be keen to bring these events to other areas.

In the last year, she has worked with Rupert Young (Founder of the Mood Foundation) with vulnerable teenagers in the local High School and is developing a form of theatre experience to use in schools that deals with issues that challenge and damage our young people in the UK.

Eva was brought up in a single parent family on a council estate in Dorset; passing the 11+ brought her a Grammar School education and she subsequently read Theology at Oxford, going on to train for ministry at St Stephen's House, Oxford. As well as her ministerial pastoral psychology and Prison Service training, she has also taken an introduction to counselling course. She brings to her writing a wealth of experience of engaging with the spiritual and emotional needs of people from a wide variety of backgrounds, ages and faith paths. Most recently, she has returned to the theatre for which she has had a life long passion and is training at Birmingham School of Acting. It is her quest to provide stories and plays that delight the soul and ask important questions about our lives and our spiritual journeys. She has founded 'The Green Blade Theatre Company' to do this.

Eva currently lives in Worcestershire.
